
Greg Asciutto is the Executive Director of CharlotteEAST, where he leads initiatives to strengthen East Charlotte’s small business community, advocate for equitable investment, and build partnerships that advance economic development, placemaking, and community engagement.
After earning a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Southern California with focuses on both global poverty alleviation and Latin American politics, Greg returned to his native North Carolina in 2014 to teach English at Garinger High School. His work as an educator earned him recognition as a CMS Teacher of the Year in 2018 and the City of Charlotte’s Educator Mentor of the Year in 2023. He served as CharlotteEAST’s Board Chair beginning in 2022 before becoming the organization’s first Executive Director in 2024.
Greg’s work at the intersection of education, economic mobility, and community development has earned recognition across the region. He was named United Way of Central Carolinas’ Civil Servant of the Year in 2019. Under his leadership, CharlotteEAST has been recognized as QC Nerve’s Best Community Organizer and the City of Charlotte’s Greatest Neighborhood Champion.
Greg is passionate about cultivating partnerships that create lasting opportunities for East Charlotte families. His work is rooted in the belief that the East Side’s remarkable diversity, entrepreneurial spirit, and resilient neighborhoods make it one of the most dynamic communities in the Southeast.
